Agricultural And Forestry Waste Has Gradually Become The Main Source Of Raw Materials For Biochar

Feb 01, 2024|

Agricultural and forestry waste includes wood, branches, bark, straw, crop straw, etc. Every year, China's agricultural and forestry waste is about 2 billion tons, of which forestry wood waste is equivalent to 300 million tons of coal, and agricultural straw resources are equivalent to 200 million tons of coal. Fully utilizing these agricultural and forestry waste is of great significance.

At present, domestic agricultural and forestry waste mainly adopts methods such as composting, raw materials, and substrates, including centralized composting, feed processing, composite material production, and straw returning to the field. There is now a new way of resource utilization, which is to use biomass carbonization technology, use biomass continuous carbonization furnaces, and process biochar to improve its utilization value.
In hypoxic environments, agricultural and forestry waste carbonizes at high temperatures to obtain biochar rich in micropores, which can supplement soil organic matter, effectively preserve water and nutrients, and improve soil fertility.

Biomass continuous carbonization furnace, the raw materials are crushed or formed biomass raw materials, which are heated in an anaerobic or low oxygen environment to decompose the molecules internally, forming biochar, bio oil, and non condensable gas products. This technology has become a biomass dry distillation technology.

Currently, with the reduction of energy, agricultural and forestry waste has become the main raw material for biochar. Biochar can not only be used in agriculture, but also in wastewater and exhaust gas treatment. It can not only reduce pollution, but also broaden the channels for resource utilization, with multiple social, ecological, and economic benefits.
