Agricultural And Forestry Wastes Have Gradually Become The Main Raw Material Source Of Biochar
Aug 25, 2025| Agricultural and forestry wastes include wood, branches, bark, straw, crop straw, etc. Each year, China's agricultural and forestry wastes are about 2 billion tons, of which forestry wood wastes are equivalent to 300 million tons of coal, and agricultural straw resources are equivalent to 200 million tons of coal. It is of great significance to make full use of these agricultural and forestry wastes.
At present, domestic agricultural and forestry wastes are mostly composted, raw materials, base materials and other ways, including centralized composting, feed processing, production of composite materials, and straw returning to the field. Now there are new ways to use resources, that is, using biomass carbonization technology, using biomass continuous carbonization furnace, and processing biochar to improve utilization value.
In the hypoxic and anoxic environment, agricultural and forestry wastes are carbonized at high temperature to obtain biochar, which is rich in micropores, can supplement soil organic matter, effectively preserve water and nutrients, and improve soil fertility.
Biomass continuous carbonization furnace, the raw materials are crushed or molded biomass raw materials, which are heated up under anoxic or low oxygen environment, causing the internal decomposition of molecules to form biochar, bio oil and non condensable gas products. This technology becomes biomass retorting technology.
